Success Story from Kassala State

Ramdan Sati Ygoub Idrees; a 40 years old who was internally displaced with his wife and 8 children, narrates how VCO introduced him to a new business strategy he never thought of: “Since I fled from my community in Khartoum State to Madani Jazera State (JS) a year ago and due to expansion of war to JS I moved for the second time to Kassala State, I and my family have been wandering from one place to another looking for a means of survival. I found myself in Garb Algash-Kassala locality at Yahya Ali Yahya School, where more than 50 families are gathering with no source of income just waiting for charity help.

One fateful day, VCO, during IDPs assessment selected me as a beneficiary for the Livelihood Cash support; I was assessed and gave me an amount of cash grant based on my type of small business I chosed. I was given an amount of 525K SDG and I started business selling many small trade items such as toothbrush, sweets, toys, liquid soap…etc in my wheel prow where I make SDG 5,000 daily. With the profit I make, I will be able to extend to other businesses. My children are now can go back to school since government decided to reopen the schools and my family feeds well. I am so grateful to VCO for grooming me into a responsible father; today I can stand on my own and attend to my needs and that of my family. Even if there’s no more NGO today, I can proudly say “I am well established to continue my business, I remain indebted to VCO”.
